Prayer. Meditation. Purposeful pause.
Whatever method you use to prepare for nourshing your day, often it needs repetition as you move from one activity to another.
Our tradition teaches us to recite a prayer each time we eat, each time we encounter a new season, each time we wash our hands.
Not so with Torah study. Once we recite "may we engage in Torah study" and "may the words be sweet in our mouths," we do not need to say the blessings again; they serve as a mindset for the entire day.
Like Torah Study, Leadership is a Mindset
Jewish Leadership Network (JLN) approaches leadership as a mindset - an ever-developing character that demands attention, engagement and nourishment. Nourishment of self, of others, and of community.
When Adam and Eve sinned, God called out, "Where are you?"
Adam answered, "I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid." When asked if he had eaten the forbidden fruit, he responded, "Eve made me do it."
Eve, too, hides. When asked about the forbidden fruit, she answered, "The serpent made me do it."
Leadership Begins with Science of Self
Hidden and afraid, they shirk responsibility; they deny accountability; they are unaware of where they are.
Jewish Leadership Network (JLN) programs begin with Science of Self assessments. JLN participants uncover who they are, how they show up, and how to share their unique gifts. Through skill development, improved communication strategies and leadership growth, they answer as did Abraham, "hineni," here I am.
During the JLN preparation phase, organizations define and/or clarify:
► Ideal staff profile
► Ideal board and volunteer profiles
► Project goals
► Success metrics
The growth phase identifies development opportunities by juxtaposing organizational benchmarks with participant assessment results. We custom design leadership training and activities based on staff and volunteer strengths, gaps, and attainable results.
360 Engagement
As staff and volunteers engage with one another in training, work sessions, Midrash-making and experiencial learning, personal and professional growth soars.
Focused on action and outcomes, JLN programs:
● Define (or validate) organizational culture and team values
● Uncover blind spots
● Identify communication techniques to excellerate relationships
● Pinpoint constituency talents and strengths
● Create strategic, goal-driven plans
● Provide accountability to implement plans and benchmark progress
Depending on goals, leadership growth initiatives may include:
★ Leadership (staff and volunteer) growth training
★ Retreat, workshop, conference content creation and facilitation
★ Board development including succession planning
★ Case for support development and training
★ Team styles analysis with experiential communication training
★ Guided team meetings and individual mentoring
